Scholarship program in collaboration with Asociatia Christiana
Do you know that for some children going to school is a luxury?
Did you know that some children want to go to school and make sacrifices to do so? The aformentioned are the stories of many children from the suburbs of Cluj-Napoca.
These children manage to stay in school with the help of our Scholarship Program. This program offers financial support such as school books, pens, school uniforms, sports equipment, clothes, shoes, transportation costs coverage, food, leisure time activities and financial support in other specific needs.
The children served by Christiana come from impoverished families. Over the years we have increased our reach and sponsored an increased amount of children: In 2019 the diversity range between boys and girls was 16 to 22.
In 2019 we also managed to set up a series of interventions and plans in supporting the children and their families even further.
In collaboration with the Christiana association in Cluj, we helped in also providing in-kinds such laptops. We are also organising bi-annually events where we invite the children to participate in a series of developmental activities (such as self-awareness training and learning more about future career opportunities).
We have currently six graduates who are successfully following university studies. In 2020 we will continue with the developmental activities as well as the interventions to support the families and to build a safe environment for the children.
Building a residential centre for children and young adults with ASD Copiii de Cristal
The Romanian healthcare system doesn’t provide the care children with a disorder need. Parents are, therefore forced to dedicate their whole life to care for their children.
Crystal Children has initiated a new project: The Residential Center. This project aims to offer the young adults on the ASD spectrum the opportunity to become self-reliant. They will live and work on the farm and benefit from specialised supervision.
In 2017, with the help of Global Aware foundation, the first steps towards achieving this goal were made: renovation of the main building that will become a home for the young adults from the association.
In 2018 we started a scholarship project to support the association further affords the costs for running the centre and paying the ABA therapy specialist.
This project has now taken off, and we have four sponsors, which are supporting the cause. To further support these efforts, we have organised two fundraising events in 2018 and 2019, which focused on creating awareness about ASD and raising funds for the therapy and residential centre.
Our partner foundation has currently ten young people on the ASD spectrum in their care.
