Alexandra is 10 years old. She lives with her parents in a house composed of a room and a storage room. The house is family owned and is located on the outskirts of the village next to the Hodisu woods. The house is not connected to electricity, water or gas. Her parents perform day jobs for other villagers’ households. In the summer they pick mushrooms and berries from the forest and sell them to the villagers. Family income is composed of the state allowance received by Alexandra. 

To get to school, Alexandra must walk 1 km through the forest to the bus stop and another 10 kilometers with the school bus. Alexandra is a smart girl and she is serious about her studies. She received a prize in the reading contest organized by her school.

When she grows up, Alexandra's dream is to become a police officer.
