Cătălin's Story
Catalin was diagnosed with mental retardation and spastic tetra-paresis when he was born. The first elements of autism were diagnosed at the age of 5 years old only. Catalin is among the first beneficiaries who joined Copiii de Cristal Centre. He was not able to walk and used a wheelchair when he joined. Attending continuous kinesis therapy sessions, there has been great progress and he is now able to walk again. The other challenge for him is his sight. One of his eyes is snot functional anymore and with the other one he can only distinguish shadows, reason why he is constantly dependent on someone.
The therapies that Catalin follows provide set of clear rules on how to become more independent and achieve small tasks, such as dressing himself up or washing the dishes. He enjoys crafting bracelets and painting, both while he is assisted. Catalin's family is looking forward to the new centre in Brasov as they know the help he has received so far by following certain therapies was essential for his development.
