Radu's Story
Radu is one of the two sons of Gabriela Popleanu (Founder of Copiii de Cristal) and the reasons why Gabi's dream of creating a Residential Centre got wings. Radu has been diagnosed with autism at the age of 2. Extremely intelligent, one of his biggest challenge is being able to detach from his inner world and become more social. When he joined Copiii de Cristal Centre, he had difficulties in accepting certain sounds, certain voices or surrounding noises.
Radu is the type of person that enjoys solitude, closing himself up and disconnecting from the people around him by choosing the virtual world. ABA Therapy (Applied Behaviour Analysis) helped Radu be more at peace with the outside world. He started the therapy several years ago and since then, Gabi sees great improvement in his behaviour. He is more social, considering the other beneficiaries from the centre his friends, singing songs in front of the classroom, becoming more independent and capable of preparing his own meals.
